How much are the premiums?

If you sign up before your 45th birthday, the premium is $14.75 monthly per adult.

If you are 45 years or older you will need to complete a short application form. The monthly is premium per adult is $14.75 unless underwriting results in a loading.

What will I be covered for?

$100,000 Life Cover and up to $20,000 Trauma Cover (if both parents take up the offer). For each parent who signs up, there is free children’s Trauma cover included in the offer.

Who is this offer available to?

All Parents Centre members – regardless of whether you are new or existing member.

What makes this cover different from the rest?

Parents Centre look after over 19,000 families across NZ.  This cover has been designed to allow each family the benefit of being part of such a large group.  As such, as long as you apply by 30 June 2017, Fidelity Life have agreed to apply a set group price up to the 45 years of age, regardless of age, sex, smoker or non-smoker, family history and occupation, which is what is normally used to determine what your retail monthly premium will be.

What is Trauma cover?

Trauma cover provides a lump sum payment to help financially if you had a serious illness or surgical procedure. This includes many type of cancer, heart attack, stroke and much more.

How long do I receive the group rate on the offer for?

The group rate is available for as long as you are a Parents Centre member.

What happens if I let my membership expire or lapse?

You have 45 days to contact us to continue your cover on standard / retail rates. If you do not contact us in this period, your cover will expire.

This is a good start for a base cover. What if I need more?

We can arrange for the adviser who is looking after your centre to make an appointment to discuss what is important for your family needs and they will help you to find the right solution for your family’s needs.

What happens once the limited offer expires, can I still have access to the group?

Yes you can.  The limited offer has no medical underwriting.  If you are an existing member and would still like to apply for cover and have missed the cut-off date, the group fixed premium amount may still be available to you.  In order to see if you can receive the group fixed premium, you will need to complete a short form application and undergo medical underwriting.

I am a new member and have joined after the initial offer expired. Can I still take this offer up?

Yes you can.  The offer of no medical underwriting if you are under the age of 45 is available for all new members if they apply within 45 days of your Parents Centre joining date.

I am over the age of 45 years and want to apply before the limited offer expires. Can I have access to this offer?

Yes, however members who are 45 years and over will need to complete a short form application and undergo medical underwriting.

How many children does the children’s trauma cover?

Each parent with cover is able to claim up to 3 children. You can only make one claim for each child. If you have 4 children, each parent with cover can claim for 3 of the 4.

Do I need to name each of my children on the policy?

No you do not.

What is the entry age for my children to be covered from?

Age 31 days – to 16 years old.

Once my child turns 17 does this mean he no longer has any cover?

No, as long as he/she was under the age of 16 when you joined the group offer, his/her cover will continue until he/she is 21 years old.

I have step-children from my partners’ previous relationship. Will they be covered under the children’s trauma?

Provided you are a legal guardian then yes they are covered under your cover. If your partner has also taken up the cover, then his/her children will be covered under his/her cover as well.

Does the children’s trauma cover have a limited number of conditions covered?

The children’s cover has the same full cover that is available for adults.  They receive cover for over 38 different conditions – just like you.

How much trauma cover is available for my children?

For each parent taking this offer up $10,000 of cover is available for up to 3 children.  If both parents take up the offer, then this would be $20,000 of children’s trauma.  $20,000 is the maximum amount of children’s trauma available for any one child.

Are they likely to change in the future?

Each year the premiums will be reviewed and factors such as the number of claims, will be taken into account and the premium may be adjusted.

When are the premiums deducted from my bank account?

The 20th of each month.

Can I alter the date to help my budgeting?

No.  As part of the group only one date is used to deduct a premium.

What if my premium is dishonoured?

Fidelity Life will try again around the 5th/6th of the following month to take the missed premium.

Will any exclusions be applied to the cover?

Yes.  Any pre-existing conditions within the last 3 years will automatically be excluded. Also excluded are any congenital conditions a baby may be born with. You may have other exclusions if you are underwritten because you are aged 45 or older.

How do I make a claim?

You can email or phone 0800 02 00 55.  You can also speak to your SHARE adviser if you have opted to take additional insurance cover as it is likely that they will also be adding to the claim you are making.  We will work alongside your adviser to ensure you receive all of the benefits that are available to you.

Who is the claim paid to?

The $100,000 Life cover is payable to your estate.  The $20,000 Trauma claim the children’s Trauma, is payable to the Life Insured – You, or a nominated beneficiary elected by you. If you wish to nominate a beneficiary please contact us.
